Intrigued by what he could not see, Harold Edgerton made it his life’s mission to analyze motion and extend our perception of time.
Edgerton was an inventor and a MIT professor who combined the stroboscopic process with the camera’s flash, and thereby he was able to photograph an entire range of movement that previously could not be seen by the naked eye.

I find these ‘pixel sorting‘ images by Kim Asendorf very fascinating. Kim was born in 1981 in Achim, near Bremen.
Do check out the before and after images at the end of the post. Very interesting.

Before and after. See it as a cool GIF here.

I must admit that bodypainting is not one of my favorite artforms. But the amazing work of multimedia artist Emma Hack, made me think again.
Through 21 years Australian artist Emma Hack has evolved from being a children’s face painter and qualified hairdresser and make-up artist, to a body illustrator and visual artist of world acclaim.

Russian advertising agency GOOD decided to take a break from advertising, and have some fun. So they made these eyecatching and mindboggling bike helmets.
They definitely made me look and smile! Do also check out the faboulous ping pong bat experiments.

Sorted Books is an ongoing project started in 1993 by Nina Katchadourian. When she finds a book collection, she looks at the titles and rearranges the books so that the titles can be read in sentences, from top to bottom.
I love this sort of stuff!

Lormalized is a small program made by Reza Ali. I’m not quite sure how the programme actually works, but I installed it and played around with it for a little while, and this is what I made. Quite beautiful isn’t it?
Reza Ali decribes LORMALIZED like this: LORMALIZED = Lorenz + nOrmalization + Real-tiMe + interActive + visuaLize + partIcles + reZa + procEssing.org + 4D.

Coarse unveils their long anticipated ‘false friends’ series, a set of two original vinyl figurines. The design is made by german artists Mark Landwehr and Sven Waschk. They started a distinct style of sculpting that looked almost as if they had chiselled and exposed the figures from three dimensional rock.
See some of Coarse’s earlier work after the jump.

Coarse has a long line of very very cool figurines in their catalogue. Check out these babies.

Urbanears is a brand new headphone brand out of Stockholm, Sweden. It comes in two models and, hold on now, 14 COLOURS! How great is that? I love how the colour of the packaging follows the same colour as the headphone. It just ads even more niceness to the branding of this product.
I love ‘em and sombody please give me a pair of these gorgeous babies for Christmas.
