Dimitri Tsykalov‘s fruit sculls are impressive and creepy at the same time.

German artist Clemens Behr makes some seriously wicked installations! He uses the simplest materials to create complex ephemeral architectures, which fill gallery spaces with origami-like structures.
Clemens Behr was born in 1985, lives in Dortmund/Germany and is currently studying graphic design.

David McDermott & Peter McGough explore different periods, in their way of life as well as in their art. For over 30 years, the art duo have been living as though it’s the end of the 19th century. From a townhouse in the East Village they created their art by candlelight, lived without modern appliances and traveled through Manhattan on horseback complete with top hats and the finest couture from nearly a century ago.
Their inspiration may perhaps be found in their recent paintings, which copy the iconography of the Hollywood films noirs and the comics of the 1960’s.

I feel strangely drawn to the dark and baroque inspired paintings by Italian painter Roberto Ferri.

Yes, these are real paintings.
All though these amazing pieces of art might look like photographs, they are actually outstanding realistic oil paintings. Made by the American figurative painter Lee Price.
Love the food theme!

I think these paintings by Sergey Nielsen for Close Up and Private‘s spring/summer 2010 editorial are amazing!
It’s not easy finding information about Sergey Nielsen, but is he in fact Sergei Sviatchenko, who is behind Close Up And Private? If any of you know more than me, please do share.

I find the work of Swiss artist Rémy Markowitsch very interesting. His way of layering the transilluminated photos makes the most outstanding pieces of art.
The shown artworks are taking from his series “On Travel” (2004) and “Lights” (2000).

And so I’m back, well rested and with that hoped for tan. Lovely.
I want to start this new week, by showing you the outstanding cactus paintings by Korean artist Kwangho Lee. I love the colors and the feel of texture that Lee has created by experimenting with various techniques such as scratching, rubbing of the paintbrush, and tapping on the canvas whilst enlarging the subject to its extreme to make the cactus seem like a type of abstraction.

I’m not quite certain what ‘Studies Sleeping Reorganization’ by Anne De Vries is all about, but it sure caught my eye!

Amazing watercolor paintings by Mark McHaley.
I love that Mark uses the beautiful and airy watercolors to paint such nerdy themes as Indiana Jones, Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings.

Artist Kimiko Yoshida makes self-portraits. In fact she has done more than 330 self-portraits. Each more impressing and odd than the other.
Kimiko Yoshida was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1963 and left her home country, as a result of feeling the oppression against women. She now lives in Europe and has since 1995.

Spectacular collages by German artist, designer and programmer Florian Kuhlmann. Stunning compositions that are almost 100% symmetrical and perfectly organized with bold and colorful gradients creating thousands of objects. It can take Florian Kuhlmann up to several months to make one single collage.
This is the kind artwork that will constantly give you something new to discover. Fantastic!
If you can read Spanish, there’s a nice interview with Kuhlmann here.
